New Creation Exploration, THE CANDLE

It has always amazed me the simplicity with which Jesus taught. He always used something that was relevant to every generation in order to convey his message and thought. Such is the case with the candle in Mark 4:21.

And he said unto them, IS A CANDLE BROUGHT TO BE PUT UNDER A BUSHEL, OR UNDER A BED? AND NOT TO BE SET ON A CANDLESTICK?

The only reason that anyone would bring a candle into a dark room, would be," TO LIGHT THE ROOM", and once the room is illuminated by the candle,... then everything in the room can be clearly seen. Today, you and I would just flip a light switch and immediately we would see everything in the room, and have instant knowledge of the rooms content, even if we had never been in the room before. Light gives us the ability to see and gives illumination to our understanding.

This is were Mark 4:22 kicks in.

FOR THERE IS NOTHING HID, WHICH SHALL NOT BE MANIFESTED;

NEITHER WAS ANYTHING KEPT SECRET, BUT THAT IT SHOULD COME ABROAD.

This is what Jesus done for us when we came to him for salvation?"HE LIT OUR CANDLE," with his life, and the life we received from him gives us the capacity to know and to understand the things of God. We are no longer in darkness, thank God we can now see.

Before the cross, all of mankind wondered the earth living in spiritual darkness because of Adams sin. No one could know God or even approach God because of the death and darkness of mans eternal spirit. However, God had a plan, He would enter into a covenant with a man named Abraham; and through that covenant he would eventually bring Jesus into the earth. But until that time came, God had to deal with man through external laws and ordinances imposed on man to deal with his flesh. God was waiting out the dispensations of time, bringing every generation closer and closer to a specific day, what day? The day when Jesus would cry out on the cross,"IT IS FINISHED," and with these words the old covenant law would be fulfilled, and the blood of Jesus would provide a new covenant ushering in a new day of grace, wherein all who believe, in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus could be born again and receive a new spirit, one with the life, and the light of God in it.

It is this new life that we receive that gives us a capacity to know God. To receive this life, one must be," born again," there are no exceptions. Receiving Jesus as Lord is the only way to light the candle. Then and only then can our spirit be made alive with the life of God. Just think, the very same life that quickened Jesus and raised him from the dead, is the same life that indwells every believer, and it is with this life that we can now approach God as our father, and begin our journey into knowing that we are his and accepted of him, knowing there is absolutely no good thing that he will withhold from us as we take our candle and begin to explore this new creation existence that is now ours. We are actually searching God, who is life, with the life that he has given us.

So here you are, you born again creature with the life of God in you. Just think,"THE LIFE OF GOD IS IN YOU," and the bible declares," that this life is the light of men," John1:4.

Ephesians 5:8 declares, "that now you are light in the Lord: walk as children of light".

Wow, we are the children of LIGHT. Thank God our spirit has been illuminated with the life of God and now we can see. We now have something with which we can fellowship with God and know him intimately, we now have life, not religion, not just another list of rules that we should conform to, or try to keep, no, we have life, God life that indwells us now.

  1. WHEW!!! AMEN!!! That is some good teaching! Got me excited about the life that is in me, and the unsearchable riches that await for me to discover them, and how that the life in me has tangible answers to help hurting people bound and lost in darkness!
