Can't even begin to tell you how the last two years of my life have changed! And the glory of it all, it has been effortless! WOW, now that's amazing! How did it happen? By looking at Gods opinion of me through the gospel... Most of us have a very negative perception of what we.......
think...that God thinks of us... and that negative thinking stems from a system of condemnation which is not from God at all. Gods true opinion of us was demonstrated through the life and ministry of his son (Jesus). We can look at the life of Jesus and see what God thinks of us!
Jesus never Judged people, never hurt people, never made people sick, never blasted people for their sins, never accused people of not being good enough, etc. Jesus went about (doing good) and (healing all) that were oppressed of the devil (Acts 10:38). Now that's Good News!
Apostle Paul tells us that Satan has blinded the minds of them that believe not...lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ who is the image of God should shine unto them (II Cor 4:4). Notice that the gospel (is glorious and that it shines).
Yes, the gospel is the good news about what God thinks about you. The word...(glorious), which is used here to define the gospel - is a word in the Greek (Doxa) which means, Opinion, Judgment, View. In the New Testament, it's always a good opinion concerning one, resulting in Praise, Honor and Glory. Gods opinion of you is (always good) no matter who you are or what you have done! Contrary to what many of us have thought... God loves us and values us far more than we ever dreamed or imagined.
Bottom line is this - when you allow the pure gospel of Christ to shine unto you it radiates with brilliant splendor the message of Gods love and favor towards you. As you hear this message then are you changed effortlessly by the Spirit of the Lord (II Cor 3:18). The true gospel shines forth Gods true opinion of us through the redemptive work of Jesus. Once we see the truth about Gods love (no more wrestling) with the question of "what does God think of me?" Just knowing that God loves us and has our best interest at heart causes a dramatic change in our lives.
I have known Jesus for almost thirty three years and have never experienced the kind of change that I have experienced the last two years of my life, and yet during those two years I never once made any attempt or conscience decision to be a different. (WOW)... that's the power of the true gospel, that's the power of Gods Grace!
Friend, the gospel provides rest and peace for our lives. If what you are hearing about God is not unmerited favor and unconditional love... then you might want to consider if what you are hearing is the true Gospel. Gospel literally means - THE GOOD NEWS! We all need to hear the Good News of Gods opinion of us. The light of the Gospel exposes us to the true nature of God through the person of Jesus Christ and his redemptive work on the cross. God's nature, which is Love will always draw us automatically to his side without fear or shame... Love has the power to change us effortlessly. God's Love is found in the message of the glorious gospel!
