This August 2010 I will be celebrating 30 years of divine health! Allow me to qualify that statement; this doesn’t mean that I haven’t had the opportunity to become sick in those 30 years; it only means that I have believed the Word of God concerning health and have had success at resisting the devil in the area of sickness and disease. I have always received my healing! Sometimes instantly, as was the case when I had a terrible headache one day, and then sometimes it would take me a while, like when I was putting blood through my bowel and when I was resisting arthritis. In these particular instances it took me over a year to resist these symptoms and yet I would wake up one day and notice that every symptom would be gone, glory to Jesus.
The Bible declares that Jesus took stripes upon his back so that we could be healed, Isaiah 53:5, and 1 Peter 2:24. God is as much concerned about our physical body as he is about our spiritual redemption. He sent Jesus to the whipping post as our substitute in order that we might be partakers of his divine health. The New Testament Jesus is as much a healer as he is a Savior. The Bible proclaims that He is the same yesterday, today and forever, Hebrews 13:8.
The same Grace that provided the born-again experience for my spirit man is the same Grace that provided healing for my physical body. HE THAT SPARED NOT HIS OWN SON, BUT DELIVERED HIM UP FOR US ALL, HOW SHALL HE NOT WITH HIM ALSO FREELY GIVE US ALL THINGS, ROMANS 8:32
Some might think that to enjoy the blessing of divine health you must attain to some conscious state of super spiritualism but that’s not true. All that’s necessary is to believe in the finished work of the cross and realize that Jesus paid it all, and all includes divine health!
Sure, you are going to have to submit yourself unto God and resist the devil. As Christians we understand this in the area of temptation to sin, but resisting the devil in the area of physical symptoms and infirmity will do the same thing; it will run the devil and his disease far from you! You may not have thought about it this way, but anytime you take an aspirin or go to the doctor you are resisting sickness and that’s ok. We are certainly not against doctors. There are things we can do in the natural to try and get well and we should do them, but God wants us to understand that through Jesus, He has redeemed us from the curse of sin and death and now as his children we have authority over all the power of the enemy, and that includes sickness!
I have come to learn that according to Gods word I am just as healed as I am saved. As a matter of fact I stay healed all the time; it’s called living in divine health, or one might say I am living in the blessing of redemption that includes divine health. But, what if sickness or disease tries to seize control of my body and overpower it? I just simply resist it in Jesus name! You might ask how long do you resist the sickness? Until all the symptoms leave my body and my body has taken its rightful position in the Grace of God, which declares, that, “BY HIS STRIPES I AM HEALED”. Next post I will talk more about, “how to” resist the devil in the area of sickness.
Good stuff. I really like the part about resisting sickness just like we would sin, and I also liked the part about "I am just as healed as I am saved." That's good! Praise the Lord! Looking forward to the next one.
