ETERNAL LIFE - This Treasure in Earthen Vessels!

That which was from the beginning, which we have heard,
Which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked
Upon, of the Word of life;

(For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear
witness, and shew unto you that ETERNAL LIFE, which
Was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) 1 John 1:1—3.

Have you ever thought about the difference between Eternal Life and living forever? There is a difference, all of us are going to live forever somewhere, either in heaven or in hell the choice is ours. Only those who... have Eternal Life abiding in them now are going to live forever in heaven. Eternal Life is what we receive when we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and saviour.

As Christians we know that we have been saved from sin but for the most part we know very little about the Life we received from our heavenly Father. We have grown accustom to talking the church talk and walking the church walk according to our denominational structuring and it’s theology while at the same time we lack a real working knowledge of how to get that life on the inside of us to work for us in a real way that empowers us to overcome the darkness of this present age.

It seems we are constantly looking for someone or something that can help us in the affairs of life when we have an eternal treasure and resource called “LIFE” on the inside of us right now. II Corinthians 4:7 declares that “WE HAVE THIS TREASURE IN EARTHEN VESSELS”, and it is through this eternal life abiding within us that we are more than capable of mastering the circumstantial and temporal problems of this age. “God Life”, gives us the potential to conqueror and to live victorious in every area of life, just as Jesus did when he walked on the earth as a man empowered by divine life, eternal life; the same life that we have as believers right now.

Is it any wonder that Satan attempts to keep us Christian’s blind concerning the supernatural life of God that abides in every believer? I believe that one of our greatest challenges as Christians is learning to live in a conscious reality of this eternal life abiding within, and the quickest way to do this is to accept the truth of Gods word which declares that “we have this eternal life, right now”, not based on a emotional feeling or something that someone else has told us, but based totally on what the word of God declares!

1 John 5:10 – He that believeth on the Son of God HATH THE WITNESS IN HIMSELF.
This witness that we have in us is ETERNAL LIFE.

1 John 5:11- And this is the record, that GOD HATH GIVEN TO US “ETERNAL LIFE”, and this life is in his Son.
Notice that this life is already given to us through the acceptance of Gods Son? The scriptures couldn't be any more clearer.

1 John 5:12 – He that HATH THE SON HATH LIFE.
Do you have the son? If you do then you have ETERNAL LIFE ABIDING WITHIN YOU!

These words are more than just words on a page to make us feel good; they are truth, Gods truth. God wants us to realize and to understand that we have divine Life on the inside of us because of our acceptance of Jesus, not just as good man though he was or a prophet of God and that he was too, but as the son of God, Gods sacrifice for sin, the sin of the world.

Most believers know that when they get to heaven and are in the presence of God they are going to have Eternal Life, but the truth is, if you are born-again you have Eternal Life abiding in you now.

Think about it, Eternal life is that life which exists with God from eternity past until eternity forever. This is hard for us to understand because we have a beginning and an end. It’s very difficult for us to imagine, but there’s never been a time when God did not exist. God is Life and therefore he has always been and will always be and the life that we have received from the Father has always existed, WOW now that’s something to think about!
